Here's a First Look at HBO's 'His Dark Materials' Series Trailer

After the phenomenal success of Game of Thrones, HBO together with BBC is releasing its latest fantasy epic TV series based on a book trilogy by Philip Pullman of the same name: His Dark Materials.

Watch the trailer below:

His Dark Materials is a story set in a multiverse where humans have daemons: beings in the form of animals linked to the humans' souls. An 11-year old Lyra Silvertongue and her daemon called Pantalaimon go on a quest to search for her missing friend. Soon, she discovers that there is something bigger going on in connection with the numerous abductions of children.

In 2007, an earlier screen adaptation had been released in theaters titled The Golden Compass. In comparison with HBO's upcoming series, His Dark Materials promises to be darker and more serious; fit for older audiences.

The TV series casts Dafne Keen, James McAvoy, Clarke Peters, Ruth Wilson, and more. It is directed by Tom Hooper and written by Jack Thorne. It is set to premiere later this year.
