Aside from playing the role of Quasimodo in the film, the 45-year old actor is also set to produce the music to give the film a sonic and musical experience. The film adaptation will also be produced under Elba's company Green Door Pictures (In the Long Run, Guerilla), along with Automatik's Fred Berger and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (La La Land, Insidious).
The Hunchback of Notre Dame is a French gothic novel by Victor Hugo centering on Quasimodo, a half-blind hunchback who rings the bell of Notre Dame. He falls in love with the gypsy Esmeralda, and attempts to give her shelter after she gets accused of killing the man she favors.
Not much has been announced on Elba's upcoming project with Netflix, but those who are excited for this can keep checking back on Netflix' website and Facebook page for updates.
