6 K-Dramas You Need To See If You Love Nam Joo Hyuk

ICYMI, he's coming to Manila this week!

In case you've been living under a rock and have missed the news, Nam Joo Hyuk is coming over to Manila for a fanmeet! Happening this September 23 at the KIA Theatre, the K-Drama actor will be taking the Private Stage, meeting and charming fans during the one-day event!

Now whether you're part of the crowd who's already starting to prepare their hearts for what's coming (and learning how to not pass out in front of him) or the not-too-lucky ones who'll be staying home instead, what you could do is – well – watch and rewatch his dramas in time for the fanmeet. Besides, you can never really get too much of him, right? 

Here are 6 shows you could check out for when you just need a Nam Joo Hyuk binge: 

1. Surplus Princess (The Idle Mermaid)

Joo Hyuk plays the role of Park Dae Bak or Big, a computer genius who lives in a surplus house after he is cut off by his parents. The drama follows Ha Ni, a mermaid who dreams of living in the human world and falling in love with a man. Upon coming to land and living with Hyun Myung, she only has 100 days to make him fall in love with her so she can remain human. 

2. Who Are You: School 2015

School 2015 is a school drama about Go Eun Byul and Go Eun Bi, identical twins who are separated when they were 5. Their paths eventually collide after one mysteriously disappears and the other loses her memory after a suicide attempt. Nam Joo Hyuk plays Han Yi An in this drama, the school's star swimmer who shares a mutual attraction with Go Eun Byul. 

3. Cheese in the Trap

Before they were even paired together in Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo, Nam Joo Hyuk and Lee Sung Kyung have already starred in Cheese in the Trap as Kwon Eun Taek – Hong Seol's friend – and Baek In Ha – Yoo Jung's spoiled brat of a childhood friend. A drama based on a webtoon, it centers on Hong Seol and how she deals with the dramas of university life, all while being the subject of broody Yoo Jung's interest. 

4. Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo

If you're one who loves historical dramas, this should tickle your fancy! Nam Joo Hyuk plays the 13th Prince Baek Ah, one of the 7 princes that fangirls would definitely swoon for. This K-drama is about a a woman from the present day who is transported back to the Goryeo Dynasty during a solar eclipse. There she meets the princes of the Wang Family and falls in love with the 4th prince. 

5. Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo

In Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo, Joo Hyuk plays the collegiate swimmer Jung Joon Hyung alongside Lee Sung Kyung's titular character. The drama tells the struggles of aspiring athletes, particularly that of weightlifter Kim Bok Joo who, later in the show, falls in love with Jung Joon Hyung. 

6. Bride of the Water God

Nam Joo Hyuk plays Ha Baek, a narcissistic water god destined to e the next king of the Land of Water. When he comes to earth in search for a pwoerful stone, he seeks the help of his destined bride, So Ah, whose finally is fated to serve the water god for generations.

Running Man episode 230 

Nam Joo Hyuk was a guest in one of the episodes of SBS show Running Man way back in 2015! If you haven't seen an episode of it, it's a reality/game show where Korean guest stars, as well as staple cast members, compete against each other in completing missions and tasks to win the race.
