To The Bone is an upcoming Netflix Original film promising to give an undiluted look on dealing with anorexia and society’s expectations of beauty when it streams on Neflix July 14, 2017. The film stars Lily Collins in the lead as Ellen, a 20-year old anorexic girl, with Keanu Reeves as her non-traditional doctor who runs a group home for youths. Collins recently shared the news about her Netflix project on her Instagram. "Here's just the first taste of what I hope will be an important conversation starter among us all," she writes.
In the film, Ellen has spent her teenage years going through different recovery programs only to regress and find herself weighing lighter and lighter. Her family sends her to a group home for youths, run by a non-traditional doctor. There, she encounters unusual rules and meets fellow patients in her path to confront her addiction and embrace self-acceptance.
'To The Bone' is directed by Marti Noxon, known for her television work in series such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce, and UnREAL. The film also stars, Carrie Preston (True Blood, The Good Wife) and Lili Taylor (The Haunting, The Conjuring). The Film subverts expectations at every turn to give viewers an honest view at what young women face in living up to both society’s expectations of beauty, and their own.
