GLOW is an upcoming Netflix series that is inspired by the real story of the 1980's female wrestling league. Glitter, guts, and glory collide in the tale of an out-of-work actress struggling to make a career. In her last attempt at stardom, she lands a gig in the form of GLOW--Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling--a weekly series about female wrestlers.

Alison Brie leads the ragtag group of women wrestlers in this new series; you may also know her from another Netflix Original, BoJack Horseman--she voices Diane Nguyen, the human ghostwriter of BoJack. In GLOW, Brie portrays struggling actress Ruth Wilder residing in 1980s Los Angeles. Ruth is thrust into the glittery and spandex-filled world of women's wrestling, alongside 12 Hollywood misfits.

Directing the 'Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling' is Sam Sylvia (played by Marc Maron), a has-been B-movie director who must now reign in the women and lead them on the journey to wrestling superstardom.

GLOW takes inspiration from an actual all-female wrestling show of the same name. It was first released in 1986, and is the first ever wrestling show featuring all female wrestlers. There's even an award-winning documentary about these female wrestlers. Their official Instagram page posts awesome throwback photos of the bodacious girls of GLOW (fueled by generous amounts of hairspray, neon spandex, and an unapologetic rockstar attitude). Their official website shows full support for the upcoming Netflix series, making hardcore 1980s wrestling fans totally excited for it.
