ECQ Season 3

The government announced last week that because of the threat of the Delta variant, they will be putting the National Capital Region under Enhanced Community Quarantine from August 6 to 20. During this period, those who are below 18 and above 65, those with comorbidities, and pregnant women are not allowed to go out, unless when obtaining essential goods and services or work in the office.

Dine-in services, including alfresco, will also not be allowed, and restaurants will only be allowed to do take-out and delivery services in Manila. Public and private hospitals will be in full operation, while dental clinics, pharmacies, banks, money transfer services, and more will be running with a skeleton workforce.

Tony Hawk

A few days after his photo with Filipino Olympic skateboarder Margielyn Didal went online, famous skateboarder Tony Hawk had to go on Twitter to talk about an interview he just did. In his tweet, he clarified that Didal was just joking in her caption, referring to an old running joke about his fans not recognizing him.

Tokyo Olympics

Last week was a very good week for Team Philippines! This is after Hidilyn Diaz won the country’s first-ever Olympic gold, while also setting Olympic records for the 55kg division in the clean and jerk at 127kg and with a total of 224kg. Aside from her, boxing athletes Nesthy Protacio and Eumir Marcial are sure to take home medals for the country as they prepare to go to their finals and semifinals, respectively.

Also still competing for a spot at the podium are Carlo Paalam, Carlos Yulo, EJ Obiena, Yuka Saso, and Bianca Pagdanganan.

House of Gucci

The first trailer for Ridley Scott’s upcoming film House of Gucci has finally dropped last week, giving viewers a glimpse of the love story between Lady Gaga’s Patrizia Reggiani and Adam Driver’s Maurizio Gucci. The film follows Reggiani, who marries into the style empire, only to turn against her husband Maurizio Gucci. It details the assassination of Gucci, with Regianna being accused and convicted of planning the murder of her husband.

Joining Lady Gaga and Adam Driver in the film are Al Pacino, Jared Leto, Jeremy Irons, Salma Hayek, and more. It arrives in theaters this November 24.

The Suicide Squad

The early reviews for The Suicide Squad are in and it’s certainly been raking good reviews, with it receiving a 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The film centers on some of the most dangerous supervillains in the world — Bloodsport, peacemaker, King Shark, Harley Quinn, and more — to the remote, enemy-infused island Corto Maltese for a search-and-destroy mission.

The film stars Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Peter Capaldi, and more.
