Donald Trump Tries to Get The ‘Death Note’ in New One-Shot

We're not joking!

The latest one-shot of the Death Note manga is finally here! And you can expect a few surprises here and there.

The popular manga series from writer Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, resumes its story with the shinigami Ryuk finding a new owner of the Death Note. His name is Minoru Tanaka, the "smartest middle schooler in Japan" as far as intelligence tests were concerned. And while this new Death Note owner shows his own level of cunning, his plans do not exactly follow those of Kira.

The new one-shot operates in the present world, our present world, except the whole Kira fiasco is now part of their history. In this story, they have the same technology that we have, plus it has appearances of real-life figures including Donald Trump as the US President, even though the manga didn't once mention his name. What role Trump and the other real-life figures have to play in this new manga? We'll spare you the spoilers. Read the special one-shot of Death Note for free at Shueisha's Mangaplus website.

Death Note is a popular manga series which ended in 2006, followed by a short one-shot release in 2008. It has been adapted into an anime series and numerous live-action films including an American remake from Netflix. Death Note tells the story of a notebook that could kill people once their name has been written on it. When the smart high school student Light Yagami uses this notebook to rid the world of criminals, he is tracked down by a mysterious detective that goes only by the name of L, proceeding to a battle of wits between two geniuses.

You can watch the anime series and Amerian remake of Death Note on Netflix. The past chapters of the manga are also available on the Manga Plus website.
