Actor JC Santos returns to theater with an upcoming musical play from Tanghalang Pilipino titled Lam-Ang which is based on the popular Ilocano epic Biag ni Lam-Ang or The Life of Lam-Ang.
JC Santos was last seen up the stage in 2016, playing the lead role in the local production of Constellations by Nick Payne. He also played as a priest a year later in Chris Millado's Buwan at Baril sa E♭ Major. Santos then played numerous roles in TV and films.
At the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2017, Santos played the lead actor opposite Bella Padilla in the film 100 Tula Para Kay Stella, which won the Audience's Choice Award for that year's PPP. After the success of the film, Santos also played other bigscreen roles in films like Meant to Beh, Mr. & Mrs. Cruz, The Day After Valentines, and will be playing another role in the upcoming PPP film Open. Now, we're finally seeing him back onstage with the musical production of Lam-Ang.
The Ilocano epic Biag ni Lam-Ang, from which the play is based, tells the story of Lam-Ang, who was born with incredible strength. When he learns that the Igorots killed his father, Lam-Ang sets out on a journey to kill the Igorot tribesmen. He later falls in love with the maiden Ines and courts her, accompanied by his magical dog and rooster.
The play will star JC Santos, Angeli Bayani, Anna Luna, and more. It will be staged by Tanghalang Pilipino with the direction of Fitz Bitana and Marco Viaña who is also the designer for the set. The play is tentatively staged for a November 29 to December 15 run at the Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino in the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
