Two years since it ran in the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Noli Me Tangere, The Opera will be returning once again on the CCP stage from March 8 to 10, 2019 in celebration of CCP's 50th anniversary!

Known as the country's first full-length opera, Noli Me Tangere, The Opera is based on Jose Rizal's classic 1887 novel of the same name, adapted to become a three-act opera by National Artists Guillermo Tolentino (libretto in Tagalog) and Felipe Padilla De Leon (music) in 1957.

The opera follows Juan Crisostomo Ibarra, a young Filipino who returns home to the Philippines from Europe to open up a school and marry Maria Clara, his betrothed. His plans, though, are hindered by his family's archenemy, Padre Damaso. Noli Me Tangere also tells the timeless story of love, betrayal, and hope, as well as the "social cancer" that can be seen in the ways of the church and the system of governance during that era.

Noli Me Tangere, The Opera will again be directed by Jerry Sibal and Jose Jeffrey Camanag, and will be featuring a cast led by Nerissa De Juan and Bianca Camille Lopez (Maria Clara); Ivan Niccolo Nery and Nomher Nival (Juan Crisostomo Ibarra); Allison Cervantes, Nicola Micaelle Peralejo, and Bernadette Mamauag (Sisa); Joseleo Logdat (Elias), Nils Flores and Ronnie Abarquez (Padre Damaso); Noel Comia Jr. and Mari Yapjoco (Basilio), Santino Juan Santiago (Crispin), and more.
