WATCH: ‘The Lion King’ Cast Performs ‘The Circle of Life’ at Open Rehearsals in Manila

Since we're all just dying to finally hear the songs and see the characters we've come to love as kids, the cast gave us a taste of what to expect from Disney's "The Lion King"

We're a few weeks away before Disney's The Lion King opens in Manila to kick off its international tour, and since we're all just dying to finally hear the songs and see the characters we've come to love as kids, the cast gave us a taste of what to expect from "The World's #1 Musical".

The upcoming musical will be featuring songs by Elton John and Tim Rice that Disney fans loved when it first came out in 1994. Some of the tunes people could expect include "I just Can't Wait To Be King", "Hakuna Matata", and of course, "Circle of Life".

Here's the Manila cast of The Lion King performing one of the film's classic songs, "Circle of Life":

New songs have also been added to the show, thanks to South African producer and composer Lebo M, who also worked with a team of musicians to rearrange songs from the original film for it to also carry the distinctive sound of the South African music.

Here's the cast performing the Academy Award-winning song, "Can You Feel The Love Tonight":

First premiered back in 1997, The Lion King is the stage production of the 1994 Disney animated film. It won 6 Academy Awards then, including Best Musical, Best Scenic Design, Best Costume Design, Best Lighting Design, Best Choreography, and Best Direction of a Musical.

For its 20th year, the show will be touring with a global cast and crew, including 6 Filipino children who will be alternating on the roles of young Simba and young Nala. They will also be playing shows in Singapore, Korea, and Taiwan.

The Lion King will be running from March 18 to May 6 at The Theatre at Solaire. Tickets range from P1790 to P7250 and can be sold via Ticketworld

The show is presented by Michael Cassel Group and Concertus Manila. For more information, you may visit their official Facebook and Instagram pages.
