PayMaya powers PH transport sector with cashless payments

Commuters Can Now Go Cashless and Contactless With PayMaya

Digital is the new normal for transportation at PayMaya's first virtual presscon, announcing a collaboration with Department of Transportation and LTFRB.

Now that Metro Manila has eased back to GCQ, commuters can now experience a cashless transportation experience powered by PayMaya! PayMaya is now enabling Philippine mass transport operators with its advanced end-to-end payment platforms for a safer on-the-road experience for Filipinos.

Our New Normal is Digital

At PayMaya’s first virtual presscon, Mar Lazaro, Head of PayMaya Enterprise shares that digital and cashless will be the default moving forward. PayMaya is the only end-to-end digital payments ecosystem enabler in the Philippines with platforms and services for consumers, merchants, and government.

Paymaya-powered services for both commuter and operator/driver include: purchase and top-up of Beep cards, Transportation Service Providers (buses, taxi companies can now make use of QR scan or Payamaya cards), Transportation Hubs (Araneta City Busport), Petroleum Companies (gas), Transportation Service Providers (such as Lalamove), and Government (LTO).

PayMaya Philippines is collaborating with the government led by the Department of Transportation and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board. Attending the virtual event are (upper left to lower right): Mar Lazaro, Head of Enterprise for PayMaya Philippines; Marvin Santos, Enterprise Head for Public Sector for PayMaya Philippines; Atty. Martin Delgra III, Chairman for LTFRB; Michael Capati, Director of Operations for MRT; and Atty. Mark Steven Pastor, Assistant Secretary for Road Transport and Infrastructures for DOTR.

These services support the mandate of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) for transportation service providers to accept contactless payments in public transit to limit the spread of the virus causing the COVID-19 disease.

Contactless Payments as Default

With these cashless services powered by PayMaya, they are empowering the entire transport chain, and not just mass transportation. For instance, PayMaya Negosyo / Digital QR can be the mode of transaction for trikes, jeeps, and taxis; the payment of choice for delivery services through their rider program (Paymaya QR) where riders can avail of cashback, and PayMaya also has a mobile storefront through the PayMaya app where users can purchase Beep credits.
