Alexa just received a major upgrade!
Amazon announced its newest member of their Echo speaker family called Echo Show which has a distinct new feature — a screen.
The Echo Show has the same abilities as the voice-only Echo but it has a greater feature given its 7" touchscreen. Users will now be able to watch content from YouTube and Amazon videos, see music lyrics, view footage from security cameras, get news briefings from popular news outlets, see a display of a full weather report, and so much more.
It weighs 41oz or 1,170g and is equipped with eight microphones, a beam-forming tech and noice cancellation like other Echos which means it can hear the user from anywhere in the room. It also has a 5mp front camera and a dual speaker powered by Dolby.
They've also introduced a new way to get together with family and friends who have an Echo or the Alexa app on their device. Make hands-free video calls to anyone who has an Echo Show or the app and make voice calls to anyone who has an Echo or Echo Dot. There's also a feature called Drop In for when you want to just check in with your closest friends and family.
Echo Show comes in black and white and retails at $229.99 with pre-orders available now, to be shipped from June 28. As of now, the availability is exclusive in the U.S. only.
