2017 is about to end, and all the wrap-ups and rundowns of the year's favorites and most-loved are starting to roll out. Apple's App Store just released their Best of 2017 last December 8 to share the top trends of the year, app of the year, game of the year, and stickers of the year to iOS users. For Android users, meanwhile, Google shared Google Play's “Best of 2017” — the apps and games that their Android community loved the most.

Google Play's 'Best of 2017' Highlights:
- Included in the best apps are health and fitness apps Lose Weight in 30 Days, 7 Minute Workout, and 8fit – Workouts, Meal Planner & Personal Trainer. Also making it into the top ten are Adobe Photoshop, AiMee – GIF Sticker Keyboard that allows you to cartoonify your photos and personalize it as stickers, Airbnb, and Anchor – Podcast & Radio, an app where you can listen to audio, create audio, and even make a podcast and have 'call-ins' with your listeners calling in to your station anytime.
- Android's top 3 Best Games of 2017 are A Girl Adrift (a tap-RPG-fishing game starring a girl in a world submerged by water), After the End: Forsaken Destiny (a unique puzzle game that won Google Play Most Innovative Game 2017), and Alia Bhatt: Star Life (an adventure game where your goal is to become an A-List Bollywood star)

- Augmented Reality: AR apps were popular, like AR Dragon (virtual pet simulator), Amon (puzzle game), and My Very Hungry Caterpillar (the classic storybook character comes to life wherever you are)
- Competitive Gaming: real-time competitive gaming took center stage in 2017, with apps like Clash Royale, Hearthstone, and newcomer Modern Combat Versus
- Gamifying Fitness: work out a sweat and keep on moving through entertaining gamified fitness apps like Zombies, Run! and 7 Minute Superhero Workout
- Facial Transformations: Portraits transform into creative digital expressions with photo-editing apps like FaceApp or FaceTune 2
- Augmented Reality: AR apps were popular, like AR Dragon (virtual pet simulator), Amon (puzzle game), and My Very Hungry Caterpillar (the classic storybook character comes to life wherever you are)
- App of The Year: Enlight Videoleap, an app from the makers of Facetune and Enlight, lets users get creative with video, be it for personal clips or high-end pro level films. You can even edit RAW footage, manage filters and effects through its layer-based editing, or use a chroma key function for green screen effects!
- Game of The Year: 2017 iPhone Game of the Year goes to Splitter Critters, the app also announced as Apple Design Award Winner 2017. By slashing your screen by a swipe of the finger, you 'split' the world of little aliens, rearrange the terrain to help guide critters find a safe path back to their spaceship.
