After its unveiling at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last month, Nokia X is now officially available in the Philippines. Nokia X is part of the new Nokia X family of smartphones that run Android apps, coupled with signature Nokia experiences and some popular Microsoft services.
The Nokia X runs on the Nokia X Software Platform and is compatible with over 50,000 Android apps available through the Nokia Store. The device is pre-loaded with a variety of popular apps like Facebook, Viber, and Monopoly among others. Users can also access HERE Maps with true offline maps and integrated turn-by-turn navigation.
The device features a fresh, customizable tile-based user interface inspired by the Lumia line. It features Fastlane, a screen that displays a timeline of recent activity and allows users to switch between favorite apps.
Another notable feature is the Operator Billing option for in-app purchases. It's perfect for non-credit card holders since it deducts the amount purchased from your prepaid load or adds it up to your postpaid bill. This payment option is currently available for Smart and Globe subscribers. According to Gary Chan, Head of Marketing for Nokia Pan Asia, in-app purchases have increased by 1,300% since they introduced the Operator Billing option.
Nokia X comes in 4 colors: bright green, bright red, black, and white. It retails at Php5,990 and comes with free 10GB storage space in OneDrive.
Aimed at growth markets like the Philippines, Nokia is projecting a 20% growth in the affordable smartphone market. “The Nokia X would be a great device for Filipinos with Fastlane, signature Nokia experiences and a number of third party apps, in addition to a sturdy and attractive build at an affordable price,' says Karel Holub, General Manager, Nokia Philippines.
