Excited to watch the adventure of Moana and Maui? Here are five things you should know about Moana’s theme song (and probably your new LSS and future Disney favorite!), How Far I’ll Go:

1. "How Far I’ll Go” is one of the seven original songs from the Moana soundtrack and is composed by the Tony Award-winning Hamilton composer, Lin- Manuel Miranda. He wrote most of the film's score and songs with the help of Opetaia Foa'i and Mark Mancina.

2. The original version is performed by Alessia Cara who is a Def Jam recording artist and known for her hits Scars To Your Beautiful, Wild Things, Here and more. The music video includes a few clips from the film, Cara scanning the beach and building a device to draw symbols on the sand. It then shows the whole thing that Cara drew on the beach at the end of the video that is quite similar to Maui's tattoos and could play a significant role in the upcoming movie.

3. Disney reached out to five singers from Southeast Asia – Maudy Ayuda from Indonesia, Ayda Jebat from Malaysia, Myra Molloy from Thailand, Minh Nhu from Vietnam and Janella Salvador from the Philippines – to perform a local version of "How Far I’ll Go."

4. The music video of Janella Salvador’s version of How Far I’ll Go was launched last Friday, November 18 on Disney Channel and on Disney Channel Philippines’ social media accounts. This is not the first time Janella Salvador collaborated with Disney though. Last year, she was also chosen to sing Happily Ever After during the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong Disneyland. Definitely, a princess in the making!

5. Its lyrics are empowering! The uplifting song delivers the message of the film: to achieving one's dream in spite of her flaws and critics. "See the line where the sky meets the sea, it calls me / no one knows how far it goes," she sings. The song continues with "If the wind in my sail on the sea stays behind me / one day I'll know / if I go there's just no telling how far I'll go."

Moana is slated to open in the Philippines on November 30. Make sure you know all the lyrics to the song so you can sing your hearts out as it will be featured in the end-credits of the film!
