Ateneo De Manila University launches Media Literacy Campaign through Inter-School Competition

The Ateneo Association of Communication Majors (ACOMM) launched PROJECT MOTION, a media literacy advocacy campaign and interschool competition last Saturday, November 23, 2013.

The Ateneo Association of Communication Majors (ACOMM) launched PROJECT MOTION, a media literacy advocacy campaign and interschool competition last Saturday, November 23, 2013, at the Ching Tan Room of the John Gokongwei School of Management building, within Ateneo De Manila University.

Students from Assumption College San Lorenzo, Angelicum College, Xavier School, UST High School, Miriam College, Saint Therese’s College and Manila Science High School attended the launch. The event served as an orientation for the students, as they were briefed on the mechanics of the competition. They also had the opportunity to hear from society trailblazers Patch Dulay (Founder of The Spark Project) and Guido Sarreal (Co-Owner of Trail Adventours and Rappler Social Entrepreneur of the Year Nominee) on starting an advocacy or movement with one’s passion.

PROJECT MOTION aims to allow the youth an avenue to practice and hone their media and communication skills, to not only raise awareness but also to shape them into intelligent and responsible media users. The launch was the ideal kickoff to the official start of the competition, which will culminate in an awarding ceremony that will be held in January 2014.

The competition is still open to HS students in Metro Manila. Those who are interested to join may obtain a copy of the mechanics through accessing this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neJtBUGC8g4&feature=youtu.be. They may also opt to contact 0915-855-4299 or acomm.projectionmotion@gmail.com for further inquiries.
