ASICS is bringing back one of their boldest early millennial sneakers – the GEL-1090™ with Korean co-ed pop group KARD as their new ambassadors. With its classic 2000s look, clean design, and technical construction, the GEL-1090™ is a timeless and classic silhouette built to excite and thrill fans.
Returning in its original silver colourway with iconic red-to-yellow fading ASICS stripes, the GEL-1090™ will see six new colourways releasing this February, with one more in April. First released in 2004 originally as a running shoe, the GEL-1090™ quickly became a firm favorite thanks to its sleek design, superior comfort, and affordability.
From 13 February – 13 March, ASICS will be running in-store retail and online promotions for the GEL-1090™. With every purchase of the sneaker, KARD fans will be able to stand a chance to see the group up close and personal in Manila, Philippines at the end of April for the GEL-1090™ launch party.
ASICS SPORTSTYLE will also run a hide-and-seek social media game (on Instagram handle @findkard) for two weeks from 14-28 February. Titled #FINDKARD, this interactive game encourages fans to participate by solving puzzles and mini-games to locate where KARD is. The grand prize winner will stand to win a pair of tickets to Manila, Philippines to see KARD at the GEL-1090™ launch party. Other prizes up for grabs include ASICS shopping vouchers, and GEL-1090™ sneakers.
In March, special limited-edition apparel will also be launched as part of the GEL-1090™ campaign that was inspired by KARD. Fans can purchase hoodies and T-shirts in the four KARD member’s favourite colours (specially handpicked by each member) to complement and complete their GEL-1090™ styling.
