‘Raya and the Last Dragon‘ is Disney’s latest animated film thaty takes inspiration from the cultures of Southeast Asia. It is set in the fantasy world of Kumandra, where long ago humans and dragons live together in harmony.
Disney’s Southeast Asian-inspired princess and warrior now has a Filipino voice behind one of its songs! Disney Philippines is launching ‘Gabay‘ and chooses Asia’s Soul Supreme KZ Tandingan to sing the first-ever Disney track in the Filipino language!
“I am very grateful and I feel very proud to be singing in my language, and show off its beauty to the rest of the world.” shares Tandingan, the artist proud to be part of history. “I grew up watching Disney movies. Finally, there is a Disney Princess who I can feel a very strong connection to, and that is Raya as the first one inspired by Southeast Asia.”
KZ Tandingan finds the song ‘Gabay’ inspiring when she read the lyrics for the first time. ‘I love that the song reminds us that sometimes we feel we are weak, especially when we are alone,’ she says. ‘But if we just learn to trust each other, to come together, and to unite, only then are we able to change the world.’
‘Gabay’ drops on Spotify this Friday, March 5, 2021. The official music video will be released soon! Keep tabs by following Disney Philippines on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. “Raya and the Last Dragon” opens in Philippine cinemas soon. #DisneyRayaPH
