Whether you were or are still in love with your best friend, Ben&Ben’s new single “Lifetime” will surely hit you right in the feels. Mark your calendars as they will release the song on June 4 (Thursday)!
The folk-pop ballad was created based on a fan’s YouTube comment on the music video of their hit song “Pagtingin.” It has more than a hundred million streams as of writing.
The fan whose username is Anne Jou shared her story of regretting not being able to express her feelings to her best friend because she was afraid to lose the friendship.
According to the band, “Lifetime” is an emotionally affecting song that leaves us wondering what could have happened if we only mustered the courage to admit our feelings to the person we’re pining for, regardless of the outcome. Real or not, we have to thank Anne Jou for inspiring the band to write a song we surely can’t stop listening to.
Watch as Ben&Ben explain the meaning behind the song:
In a Zoom conference, the nine-piece band shared that the song was recorded in their houses separately during the quarantine. The band also revealed that fans should watch out for a live performance of their new single online.
Brothers Miguel and Paolo Benjamin wrote “Lifetime,” and recorded and produced by Ben&Ben. They sought help from veteran sound engineer JP Verona and Grammy Award-winning Leon Zervos who has worked with artists like Pink, Rihanna, Maroon 5, and more.
