ClickTheCity Faves: What We’re Listening To This Week

Whether you love listening to fine tunes while working or just want to put your mind off things for a bit, jamming to a track or learning new things through a podcast is just the way to go these days. While we work at home and try to give you the latest updates #AroundTheCityOnline, we stream songs and podcasts to stay calm, cool and collected.

Want to discover what we’re listening to right now? Then keep tabs on this weekly rundown where we hand-pick some of our favorite songs and podcasts to share with the ClickTheCity community!

Snoh Aalegra | Listen on Spotify

The 2017 album ‘Feels’ was my gateway to Aalegra’s soulful voice, and it’s no surprise that her beautiful music drew much inspiration from artists like Michael Jackson, Sade, Lauryn Hill, and Prince (Prince was actually her mentor). This Swedish singer-songwriter has a very soft and nostalgic tone to her voice, warm and buttery that give R&B songs a dreamy feel like in ‘Fool For You’ and ‘Find Someone Like You.’ If the mentioned artist inspirations are also your favorites, and you dig musical styles reminiscent of Erykah Badu and Stevie Wonder, give your ears that late-night soulful groove by following this artist on Spotify.

“Take Yer Meds!!” (A Guided Meditation) by The Drums and Jonny Pierce

If you’re like me who is in search of calmness during this pandemic, have a listen to this 14-minute track that is both a song and meditative session. You can listen to The Drums lead Jonny Pierce speaking softly over sound effects of ocean waves which are fused with electronic texture and calming guitar strums. Sit back, relax, and listen to Pierce as he helps you connect to yourself.

Eight by IU (ft. Suga) | Listen on Spotify

IU is back with yet another beautiful track called Eight, a song where she again reflects on her current stage in life. The track, which features her breathy vocals and fellow 93-liner Suga’s soothing rapping, talks about them being 28 (in Korean age), growing old, and holding on to their memories as they do. With its pop-rock sound, Eight is a song to listen to on a road trip or if you just want something to motivate you on a particularly bad day.

Short Stories | Listen on Spotify

The Short Stories podcast is basically a compilation of short literary works by the likes of Edgar Allan Poe, H.G. Wells, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and H.P. Lovecrat to name a few. Of course, these names are known for being icons in the mystery, science fiction, and paranormal genres. Thus, if you like these kinds of tales just as I do, you should definitely give this podcast a try. The stories are from authors of well-renowned classics, and you can freely listen to them anytime of the day, even when you have other tasks at hand.
