Music is a language that is timeless and universal. The melodies and harmonies mix into something that words cannot encapsulate yet each note resonates with the listener’s mood and emotions.
During the lockdown, a lot of people found comfort in music – this includes the Lasallian Youth Orchestra (LYO). Prior to the pandemic, members of the orchestra look forward to going to the rehearsal hall to jam with one another, eat out after rehearsals, and talk until the school closes down. This was basically a daily routine for most members. But what really united each one was the passion they had for music.
This unbreakable connection persisted as the pandemic progressed and the platform drastically changed. At first, members struggled to express themselves and reach out to one another. Fast forward to today, the Lasallian Youth Orchestra continually conquers each trial and strives to introduce new pieces, arrangements, covers, and melodies to the world. Music became a way for them to communicate with one another when they felt like no one was around them. To highlight each member’s talent, LYO has an annual recital that continues on today.
Forte 2021: A Cloud Nine Musical Experience aims to deliver each note to the world as members express themselves through their music. This 2-hour musical journey consists of 3 sections – the soloists, the group recitalists, and the orchestral performances. With the platform that LYO holds, they chose to dedicate 10% of their profits to Blas Ople Policy Center and Training Institute to reach out and help the OFWs working hard to provide for their families.
