WATCH: Filipino Underground Label ‘Tarsier Records’ Relases Debut Singles of Their Millenial Artists

Their trailblazing artists--talented millenials that showcase the best of local electronic, pop, and urban music--can now be found on all major digital platforms. Meet the Filipino artists and check out their first batch of tracks and music videos here!

Tarsier Records is a new underground label that is dead set on creating a platform for their talented artists to get what they deserve: international exposure. The label recently released its first set of tracks and music videos from their current roster of nine exclusive artists, who all consider themselves a collective of collaborators who support each other, rather that just a roster of individuals that happen to fall under the same label.

Tarsier Records: Meet the exclusive Filipino artists on their roster, with 8 original tracks in their first release cycle

The new label wants to hold firm ground in its hometown, Manila, and engage with everyone with the most important, accessible space where audiophiles get their music source from: the internet. After establishing themselves in the local scene, they are off to roll out their its multiple strategies for international exposure shortly thereafter.

Their trailblazing artists, talented millenials that showcase the best of local electronic, pop, and urban music, can now be found on all major digital platforms (Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Deezer, their own YouTube channel). Craving for new music to add into your playlists? Meet the artists and check out their first batch of tracks and music videos (fresh from their premiere on MYX last Saturday) here!

1. Edana (Edana Keijdener): This half-Filipina vocalist has lived in Vietnam, Thailand, and Holland to name a few places, though she now moves to Manila to focus on her lifelong dream of being a singer.

2. Kiana (Kiana Valenciano): Daughter to superstar father Gary Valenciano, Kiana comes with a well-defined concept of her personal brand that is rare to the local scene: a unique Future RnB sound.

3. Kidwolf (RJ Barbaso): Winner of multiple Awit Awards for his production and songwriting, he is also a DJ who regularly appears at local festivals and clubs. Kidwolf produced the megahit “Dahil Sa Iyo” with Inigo Pascual, which topped the Billboard Philippines Top 20 chart. With Tarsier Records, he is given the lime light as a world-class producer, songwriter, and artist.

4. Marion (Marion Aunor): A highly skilled and well-polished songwriter who studied the craft at Berklee School of Music and at multiple expos and conventions in Nashville and Los Angeles, to name a few.

5. Markus (Markus Paterson): The Fil-Brit singer first became known in the country as a finalist from the show Boyband PH. Now with Tarsier, he launches his first original composition, showcasing his original sound and incredibly unique vocal stylings.

6. Moophs (Chris Lopez): This DJ/producer is a lifelong musician, studying classical guitar from the age of seven at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and eventually receiving his BM in Classical Guitar Performance from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. As an electronic music producer, his eclectic musical background in classical, Latin, jazz and rock mixed with his experiences living in the Philippines have culminated in a sound he calls Tropical Bass, a genre he has begun to expose local audiences to in his appearances at local festivals such as Hydro, Castaway, Malasimbo, Lio Beach Fest and Nuevomundo, and internationally at Music Matters, Singapore and One Music X, Dubai. Moophs is now collaborating with some of the best local talent to create a body of work now represented under Tarsier Records.

7. Sam (Sam Concepcion): This singer needs little introduction, having been a household name in the Philippines since childhood in the fields of theater, film, TV and music. But with Tarsier, Sam is focusing entirely on the future, both in his career and in the sound of his music.

8. Xela (Alex Godinez): This vocalist is a multi-talented spirit with backgrounds in theater and film acting, as a well as a degree in contemporary music from Musician’s Institute in Hollywood, CA. She is also an avid fitness enthusiast and yogi, all of which can be heard in her lighthearted, upbeat original compositions which range from pop to electronic stylings. Her years in the LA music scene as well as her extensive experience around the recording process itself has lead to her becoming a skilled vocal producer, helping many of Tarsier’s artists get that perfect take.

9. YUZON: her sound is best described as indie-electronic and her influences range from FKA Twigs to Lights, Grimes and Porter Robinson. She played in several rock bands as vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist before going solo and finding her own electronic sound. A poet since the age of seven, she eventually turned those poems into songs inspired by travel, nature and inner spiritual worlds. Beyond her music, YUZON has an incredible artistic vision for the visual manifestation of her work which can be seen in the music video for her first release, “Feathers,” something that she conceptualized and championed into existence through sheer determination.
