WATCH: LANY melts fans’ hearts with ‘ILYSB’ in Filipino

Mahal kita, sobra.

LANY, a three-member alternative band short for Los Angeles New York is in Manila for a series of free shows in Ayala Malls – Glorietta, Greenbelt 5, Alabang Town Center, Market! Market! and Trinoma – from August 4 to 6.

At a press conference, the trio says the title of one of their hits 'ILYSB' (I love you, so bad) in Filipino. Watch below:

The American trio’s success was quite organic, with much of the music that propelled them to musical stardom recorded out of aux sockets. LANY frontman Paul Klein admits it was “very do-it-yourself.” When he and his bandmates Les Priest and Jake Goss uploaded their first song online, they had no social following, no fans, not even photos; but it didn’t take long before their song skyrocketed to multi-million-stream victory. “We just decided: let's make a band, stick the music online ourselves, and see what happens,” add Klein.

The band finished a full album, that’s what happened, and it’s bursting with so much meaning and emotion. The lyrics they sing out are distinctive, wistful, and true. “Some writers aren’t even sure what their lyrics mean until after they're written, and only then do they attach meaning,” says Klein. “I know what I mean, and I'm going to say it. That's the only thing that makes sense to me.”

The vocals and instruments were also captured through smartphone apps and the songs were recorded as they were written, reflecting the raw and honest vibe of LANY’s music.
