I paid P400 and readied myself for almost 4 hrs of viewing. I wanted to honor the achievement of a Filipino director in an int'l stage. Unfortunately, the movie was so loooonnng and dragging. Sometimes you are just staring at the same image of a street or a house for over a minute with nothing happening and you're holding your breath waiting for the next scene. I'm actually still in the cinema but nothing much is happening in the movie itself so it's disengaging. An hour into the movie is when John Lloyd makes an appearance. But still you don't know anything about him except he's drunk and crying. Basically, after an hour, it seems the plot has barely started. I didn't want to rain on anybody's parade and I want to support quality Filipino movies. But I also want to share my experience of the movie so those who are about to spend time and money can manage their expectations. Now we're at 1.5 hrs on, most movies would be wrapping up but John Lloyd has not reappeared and I still don't know how he figures in the movie. I'm still hoping there is a plot somewhere. Maybe after the 2nd hour, if I stay to find out.
Things i like bout lav diaz film. kahit mahaba di nakaka stress panoorin. pure realization and showcase of acting. #AngBabaengHumayo 4.5/5 galing ni mam charo and johnlloyd. even the supporting cast. great!
