INDAK(2019) For Indak, it really has a good premise and it offered something new for the masses to enjoy and it’s a good thing that Nadine Lustre can pull off a role even without her reel and real life partner James Reid. She proved her acting prowess in Ulan but it disappointed me because it didn’t matched my standards due to its flaws but here in Indak, despite its typical and predictable scenes, it still is cinematic and has this aesthetic “Teen Spirit” and “Step Up” vibes. She(Nadine) wasn’t outshined by the newbie actors in the film. In fact, the director really pulled off a strong chemistry between Jen and Vin(Sam Concepcion)’s respective characters.. The movie, although nice in cinematography and development still has many flaws.: 1.) The songs were lipsynched.. Although the songs are also spoken and sung dialogues of the characters, they should match and should be harmoniously dubbed.. 2.) Jen’s back story isn’t that clear and they had invested on her being on a viral video instead of portraying Jen’s story but I understand why her character is like that. She had a traumatic experience because of a particular event or instance on which you shouldn’t miss while watching the film. 3.) Too many production numbers to the point that 1/4 of the film is more on these numbers rather than focusing on the main storytelling but it helped a little for us to know and depict the scenes but it’s too much for me. 4.) Camera angles, although perfect are sometimes blurry. 5.) The South Korea competition seemed like Pitch Perfect but in a form of a dance showdown and needs to be improved 6.) The film can stand alone even without some of the supporting characters. But aside from that, I have to commend: 1.) The stylists of the actors 2.) The character development 3.) Nadine and Sam’s chemistry and charisma 4.) Them(production team) reviving some OPM songs having a different tone and flavour 5.) INDAK Pinas members and Team Bantayan for pulling off the characters given to them 6.) The over-all message depicted by the film.. Although cliche, is rampant in today’s time and some really need to hear. 7.) The overall vision of the director of the film.. experimenting a new concept for Philippine cinema,, as it celebrate its 100th year.. 8.) The editor needs a raise for a job well done. The font, subtitle, transitions is amazing. A quality film in the making. Very vibrant from start to finish. Overall, 4 out of 5 for Indak.. Although nice but could be easily forgotten due to its typical storytelling and narration. But it showcased why the “Nadine Lustre” is this generation’s Best Actress. My fave scene was the airport scene. Simply awesome! The dance routine was effortless.
