  • ALADDIN (2019) Movie Review Rating: 2.5 of 5 Saw the 2 minute trailer a few months ago, and gotta be honest, CGI Genie creeped me out. Now imagine watching it in 2 hours. I've always been a fan of the 1991 animated Aladdin, and I've seen it a lot, and I mean A LOT of times. I own a VHS tape, a DVD, and a Blu-ray of it. That's how much I loved it. So I pretty much memorize the story, the script and of course, the songs. The live action version story is the same. The songs? Same. The script? Same. BUT, less impact and soul on it. The director? Mediocre. The actors? Princess Jasmine is beautiful. Just that. Aladdin? He fits the role, and believe me, he tried, he really tried. Jafar? I don't even know why he's chosen for the role, jeez. And Will Smith as the genie? You're gonna wish Robin Williams is still alive. The movie is pretty much shot on a green screen, which is obvious most of the time. And the CGI? Man, have you ever face palmed on a movie? This is it. The best part of the cartoon is also the best part of the movie. If your a fan, you know what it is. I've seen Disney's 1991 Aladdin countless times. Huge fan. I'm never gonna watch this live action again. Gonna watch the animated once I get home people. Shining, shimmering, splendid? I think not.
