Review

  • Pet Sematary is a remake from 1989 movie and followed a sequel in 1992. The original movie was scary I guess when I was young then, because maybe I haven't seen the scariest movie so far. This year, the two directors made a different twist from the original, but it didn't surprised me. It's a story of family who move to a rural home and Ellie (daughter) discovers the Pet Sematary hidden in the woods nearby. A tragedy follows and Louis (Jason Clarke, father) asks help to Jud (John Lithgow, unusual neighbor) about the mysterious burial ground and follows a horrific consequences. I got bored and trying to wait for some real jumpscares but I got ho-hum. For horror fans who is looking for slasher-run-for-your-life movie, this is not. If you like reading novels, might as well, read it and don't compare it to the movie. I appreciate the story line, the acting is there, cinematography is great and sound effects are okay. It's just that I'm not gonna watch it again. I recommend the movie for those who are really into faint of hearts. They might consider this movie. I thought it was a family drama movie not a horror movie.
