Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017)Action, Adventure, Sci-fi
- Cara Delevingne, Dane DeHaan
- Luc Besson
Last night, I got the chance to see an early preview of the much awaited sci-fi, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets starring Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne and directed by Luc Besson.
The story revolves around 28th century special operatives, Valerian (DeHaan) and his partner (Laureline). They travel to the ever-expanding metropolis, the Alpha, on a mission when a dark force threatens the peaceful city.
I'm not really a fan of sci-fi movies so I was beginning to think that I might fall asleep halfway through the show and informed my brother to wake me up if that happens. But when the movie starts and the story unfolded, I know I was hooked. I swear I didn't even moved a muscle as I was so engrossed by the movie's stunning visual effects. You would see it in the opening scene, the big market scene, in everything as the whole movie is a treat for the eyes.
As usual, DeHaan gave his best on his portrayal of Valerian and so is Delevingne on her Laureline. They have the chemistry that is fitting for their role. And they are both hot. H-O-T. As you would see on their beach scene.
The one that I really enjoyed so much throughout the movie was Rihanna as the shapeshifting Bubble. Her scene made me think that I was bingeing on her music videos. Her appearance definitely sealed the deal for me.
As usual, Director Luc Besson is GREAT. He gave the audience a wonderful visual experience, a perfect story, a fitting actors and a you can see his personal touch throughout the film, the best for me was creating a strong female characters like Laureline and Bubble.
All in all Valerian is a masterpiece, you can see it in the quality of the overall visuals of the film. The effort they put in the movie resulted a spectacular visual-gasm (if there's such a word) that will leave the audience in awe. Valerian is worthy of your time and money.
