It wasn't that good but it wasn't that bad either. For me it's in the line of 'just fine'. The point of the story is beautiful: a man and a woman who have problems dealing with their pain (very timely, since depression is a prevalent mental illness among millennials) but how the point was portrayed is far back from 'satisfying' or even 'acceptable'. Especially JC's character, it was as if he was saying that depression is a light thing; napapa "what?" talaga ako everytime he opens up to Bela about his self-harming issue na para bang "Ayun sinaktan ko na naman sarili ko pero hindi na kung dito ka lang." Luh. Then Bela's heavy problems were told too hurriedly. It should have been a very big part of the story since it's where her motives come from, pero it wasn't given enough light so tuloy I was thinking, "Bakit ka ganyan, Lani? Ano ba nangyari sa'yo?" for most parts of the movie. But in all fairness, effective ang pagpapakilig nila and very authentic naman kasi ang delivery ni Bela ng mga 'hugot' kaya siguro madami ang natutuwa. Sayang lang dahil hindi justified ang elements. You know, the story would go on as is even without the Baybayin element.

Worst is, it wasn't even explained how and why the whole set-up took place. Why would Lani help Kai move on? What's her motive? What does she get in return? There should be one kasi they are strangers in the first place. Why would Kai, a character with trust issues and 'depression', let a stranger to his house and teach him how to handle his feelings? At higit sa lahat, anong point ng pagsama ni Lani kay Kai papuntang Lanai? Ang sabi because Kai needs her to stop harming himself, pero mare isang linggo lang naman pala?? What was that for? I don't get the need to go all the way to Hawaii para lang magkaroon ng light ang totoong nararamdaman nila for each other. They could have done that in the Philippines noong hindi pa expired VISA nung isa (may VISA pala needed sa Pinas?).

But at least may takeaway naman ako sa panonood. Nakakaproud dahil most of the viewers na nakasabay ko questioned the flow of the story a couple of times din. Which proves that most of the Filipino movie-goers no longer just accept what's laid on their table or what others say about how they should feel about the film they watch. Madami akong narinig na nagtanong, nagtaka, at nainis sa naging takbo ng storya. Higit sa lahat, pariparehas kaming napa"HA??" sa ending.

    It's a 3/10 movie for me.

Yup. Bella’s other movies were way so much better than this. This movie made me question a lot of things ... mostly whys.. so amateurish ... so needing further development. We get the story as my friend and I were discussing last week but maybe the movie needs better unraveling and depiction? Even I question myself because I got sooo lost and disappointed. Now I wish we watched the allergic movie. Seems much more enjoyable. We’re such a Bella fan that we picked this one. Sad.

Good actors but under developed story.

The story didn't really justify the regression of Lani to someone who imagines Fantasy Sequences (i.e. the cringey opening dance scene). Kai also failed to bring to light the struggles of people who self-harm, I found his motivations to be absurd (even he admits this in the story). For a fictional character that is supposed to call upon the audience's emotions, his absurd and even comedic motivations are unacceptable and makes light the problems of people who self-harm. Lastly, Lani's heavier problems (probably the only aspect of the film that warranted sympathy) wasn't even resolved very well, it felt rushed and even brushed aside for the sake of "closure".
Lastly, I really found the Lanai scenes to be lacking in visual quality.

Not worth.

Walang Wow Factor. Unlike with their previous Movie, pagkatapos ng movie, masasabi mo na lang " Yun na yun? "
