Based on the comic book by Carlo J. Caparas, Ang Panday revolves around the blacksmith Flavio Batungbakal who needs to save humanity and fight the evil that is his nemesis, Lizardo. This film is also Coco Martin's directorial debut.
Coco succeeds where all Bong Revilla versions and the embarassing Jinggoy failed miserably despite renowed directors helming Panday. Finally a new breed of director gives Panday that needed updating with superb effects, action that feels natural, unassuming build-up, right mix of heart, comedy, action, suspense and horror. With superb music and visual effects, this one at least nearly delivers very close to the mystic feel set by the FPJ-directed series. Congratulations Coco. This one was really made for you and by you.
