Cinemalaya Film Festival is Set To Roll Out More than 20 Films for Its 14th Year!

We're only a month away before the Cinemalaya Film Festival opens and this year promises to screen films of different genres - old and new - as they continue to promote and support the production of Filipino films. 

We're only a month away before the 14th Cinemalaya Film Festival opens! And with all the films on the lineup, the festival continues to become bigger than last year's as it promises to screen films of different genres – old and new – to promote and support the production of Filipino films. 

14th Cinemalaya Film Festival

Following this year's theme – "Wings of Vision" – Cinemalaya will be screening 10 full-length films and 10 short films competing for awards in their respective categories. The competing full-length films are: Percival Intalan's Distance, Carlo Enciso Catu's Kung Paano Hinihintay ang Dapithapon, James Robin Mayo's Kuya Wes, Kip Oebanda's Liway, Denise O'Hara's Mamang, Benedicto Mique Jr.'s ML, Iar Lionel Arondaing's Musmos na Sumibol sa Gubat ng Digma, Che Espiritu's Pan de Salawal, Louie Ignacio's School Service, and Afi Africa's The Lookout

The short film category, on the other hand, will be including Keith Deligero's Babylonn, Carlo Francisco Manatad's Jodilerks Dela Cruz, Employee of the Month, Jojo Driz' Kiko, Kani Villaflor's Logro, Glenn Barit's Nangungupahan, Christian Candelaria's Sa Saiyang Isla, Xeph Suarez' Si Astri Maka Si Tambulah, Jarell Serencio's Siyudad sa Bulawan, Mika Fabella and  Rafael Froilan Jr.'s Yakap, and Jav Velasco's You, Me, and Mr. Wiggles

Aside from the competing films, Cinemalaya will also be bringing back Dokyu – their documentary section, Best of the Festivals – which will be showcasing some of the best from local festivals, Indie Nation, and Visions of Asia – which will be screening award-winning Asian and Netpac films. 

This year, festivalgoers may also be able to catch Maryo J. Delos Reyes' films – Bagets and Magnifico – the Bernardo Bernardo-starred film Manila By Night as a way to pay tribute to the late film personalities. Treb Montreras' Respeto and Joseph Israel Laban's Bacanaua will also be screening thisy ear as part of the Retrospective Section.
