Disney is currently looking for a Filipino grandmother to play a role in an upcoming film. While the specific film has not yet been revealed, casting call details cause speculations that it is for Spider-Man 3.
“Katie Doyle Casting, Hawaii is assisting Sarah Finn Casting (Avengers: Endgame, The Mandalorian, Guardians of the Galaxy) in looking for an actress to play a role in an upcoming Walt Disney Studios film.” The casting call posted at Project Casting read.
They are looking for a Filipino or Filipino-American lola from Hawaii, aged 50 to 90 years old. No professional acting experience is required but the auditionee must speak fluent English. The actress must also be authorized to work in the US– a US citizen, a green card holder, or an O-1 visa holder; and is comfortable traveling on a plane to Atlanta, Georgia.
Casting directors are requiring talents to record a short introduction video about their family or their favorite activity. They can share the story in English, Filipino, or any other language spoken in the Philippines, but they must introduce themselves in English.
Since the chosen actress will be asked to travel to Atlanta, Project Casting points out in a press release that Spider-Man 3 is currently filming and casting in the area.
If Disney’s casting call is indeed for Spider-Man 3, it is no surprise if they’re casting the lola of Ned. Peter Parker’s friend is played by Filipino-American actor Jacob Batalon.
The casting call expires on January 31. For more information, visit the Project Casting website.
