The star of Split and The New Mutants, Anya Taylor-Joy, will star as the young Furiosa in an upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road prequel.
According to Deadline, Warner Bros. is in advanced development with the origins spin-off titled Furiosa. The multi-Oscar winning blockbuster Fury Road starred Oscar winner Charlize Theron as the rebel warrior who helped Tom Hardy’s Max Rockatansky fight against the tyrannical Immortan Joe.
Fury Road director George Miller will return to direct the spin-off. MCU’s God of Thunder, Chris Hemsworth and the Watchmen series star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II are also joining the cast.
Mad Max Fury Road grossed $375.2M at the global box office and won six Oscars at the Academy Awards 2016.
