Metro Manila Film Festival To Go Online This 2020

The festival will also be partnering up with a worldwide streaming service for this year!

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual Metro Manila Film Festival will still be pushing through this 2020! This time, though, the festival will be going online, as the festival partners up with a “worldwide streaming service” to make it more available to more Filipinos.

MMFF spokesperson Noel Ferrer announced the good news yesterday via his Instagram page. Here, he said that by making the festival available online, they are able to ensure that the festival will be happening everywhere, “recreating happy traditions, and experiencing MMFF beyond-the-movies – together with the whole family.”

But here are some important announcements sa mga gustong sumali pa sa mga finished film entries. Acknowledging the challenges ng film shooting ngayon, the deadline for finished film submission is moved from October 15 to NOVEMBER 15. Samantalang ang finished films based on the approved scripts ay may bagong deadline from Oct 31 to NOVEMBER 30. This will give producers and filmmakers more time na puliduhin pa ang kanilang mga entries. They just have to fill out the forms for resubmission. Magkikita-kita tayo ONLINE!!! #MMFF2020Updates #PEPAlerts #PEPTroika

Ferrer also announced that they’ll be moving the deadline for submission of finished films from October 15 to November 15. They also moved the deadline for finished films based on approved scripts, from October 31 to November 30 to give producers and filmmakers to finish their entries.

With the festival going online this year, Ferrer also shared that one of the things that they will be encountering is the issue of piracy. He then assured people that they — along with the partner streaming service — will be announcing how they are planning to address it.
