Five years since the first film premiered in cinemas, Angelina Jolie is coming back to the big screen with her horns in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil!
Just last night, Disney unveiled the latest poster, along with the release date of the upcoming Maleficent sequel.
Set to premiere on October 16, 2019, the audience can expect to see some familiar faces from the first film. Aside of course from Jolie, Elle Fanning will also be reprising her role as Aurora, as well as Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple, and Lesley Manville. Michelle Pfeiffer, Ed Skrein, Harris Dickinson, and Chiwetel Ejiofor will also be added to the cast for the sequel.
The first film entitled Maleficent premiered in 2014, and centers on the titular character who used to be a young woman with a pure heart, rising to be her land's protector after it's invaded by an army. A betrayal then hardens her heart, turning her into someone who's bent on revenge.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is directed by Joachim Rønning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales), with a screenplay by Linda Woolverton, Micah Fitzerman-Blue, and Noah Harpster.
