Directed by Guy Ritchie, Aladdin is the live-adaptation remake of the 1992 film and is based on the Arabic folktale from One Thousand and One Nights. It tells the story of a street rat named Aladdin who finds a magic lamp which contains a genie. To hide the lamp from the Grand Vizier Jafar who's been searching for it, Aladdin disguises as a wealthy prince and tries to impress the Sultan and his daughter.
The film stars Mena Massoud as the titular character, Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine, and Will Smith as the Genie. They will be joined by Marwan Kenzari as Jafar, Navid Negahban as the Sultan, and Bill Magnussen as Prince Anders, as well as Frank Welker and Alan Tudyk who will be providing the voices for Abu and Iago, respectively.
Fans of the film's music can expect to hear some of the well-loved songs from the animated film, as well as new recordings of original songs written by Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken (who also worked on the first film!), with lyrics by Oscar and Tony Award-winning songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
Aladdin opens in cinemas this May 24, 2019.
