‘Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis’ is Streaming for Free on Independence Day

Cinephiles, we just found the perfect way to celebrate Independence Day! TEN17P has announced that Lav Diaz’s 8-hour film Hele Sa Hiwagang Hapis will stream on YouTube for free this June 12 to 14!

A film set in the midst of the revolution, the film tells the interconnected stories of characters from our history, literature, and mythology. One story follows Gregoria De Jesus on her search for the body of his husband Andres Bonifacio. Another centers on Jose Rizal’s Simoun and Isagani, with their stories picking up at the end of El Filibusterismo.

The historical fantasy drama competed at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival where it won the Silver Bear Award. The film is written and directed by Lav Diaz, and stars Piolo Pascual, John Lloyd Cruz, Hazel Orencio, and more.

Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis is streaming for free for 2 days from June 12 to 14 on TEN17P’s YouTube channel. You can check out their Facebook and Twitter page for more information.
