Fifteen-year-old pop star Sam Concepcion is once again out to prove his worth as one of the country’s youngest singing sensations, and this time, he goes international as he collaborates with Dreamworks to sing the theme song of their latest animated comedy, Kung Fu Panda. This makes Sam the first Filipino to work with Dreamworks for a project such as this.
Sam’s version of the song will be played during the end credits of the film for every single screening here in the Philippines. In addition to that, a music video of his version was shot in a Chinese Temple and directed by Marie Jamora.
Several Artists from various countries were considered and fortunately, Sam was lucky to be one of the chosen few to do a version of the soundtrack. Sam’s version of the song will be included in the film’s Asian Soundtrack Album together with the original version of the movie theme song recorded by US band Gnarls Barkley’s front man CeeLo Green and an Asian version recorded by Korean pop star Rain.
According to Sam, everything happened so quickly, from studying the song to submitting a demo, and before he knew it, he was recording his own version of the song. The young star said it is hard to explain how excited he is about the project, at the same time he wishes that more young local artists can make it internationally.
Sam’s new video for “Kung Fu Fighting” and the animated comedy Kung Fu Panda hits the theaters this June 6, 2008.
I’m looking for Kung Fu Panda.
