Here are the 10 Finalists of Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2019

Don't miss this year's PPP coming to cinemas on September!

The Philippine Cinema Centennial is upon us, and this is why now's the best time that we strengthen our support on our local films, from Cinemalaya to PPP.

During its grand launch, Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2019 (PPP) has finally revealed the 10 official finalists that will bring life to this year's annual film festival. Now on its third year, the PPP will be showing these local titles in theaters nationwide from September 13 to 19. The festival will showcase seven feature films and three 'PPP Sandaan Showcase' films.

Here are the 10 finalists to watch out for this September:

1. Cuddle Weather
Directed by: Rod Marmol

Sue Ramirez and RK Bagatsing play the roles of two sex workers who decided to form a screwy relationship as 'cuddle partners,' but soon the two find themselves wanting something more than love-making.

2. LSS
Directed by: Jade Castro

Gabbi Garcia and Khalil Ramos play the roles of Sara and Zak, whose journey to follow an upcoming indie-folk band brings them closer together, teaching them how love and loss works, accompanied by the music of Ben & Ben.

 

3. The Panti Sisters
Directed by: Jun Robles Lana

Paolo Ballesteros, Christian Bables, and Martin Del Rosario play the three gay sons of a terminally-ill rich man who calls them back to offer a P300 million inheritance for each of them who'll be able to give him a grandchild.

 

4. I'm Ellenya L.
Directed by: Boy 2 Quizon

Maris Racal is Ellenya, a typical millenial who aspires to become a popular influencer and vlogger. With the help of her family and friends, she will try to reach that ultimate dream. But is Ellenya really equipped for it?

5. G!
Directed by: Dondon Santos

G! is an account of good times and bad times between four young men. A story where they learn the real value of love, friendship, family, and life.

 

6. Open
Directed by: Andoy Ranay

JC Santos and Arci Muñoz play the perfect couple Ethan and Rome. After 14 years of being together, their relationship becomes stale, prompting them to make an agreement to have an open relationship or to have sex with strangers without falling in love. Soon, the two will have to see how their own relationship falls apart.

 

7. Watch Me Kill
Directed by: Tyrone Acierto

Set in a world where violence rules over virtue, a ruthless assassin finds a new light after rescuing a teenage girl from the man she was hired to kill. The film stars Jean Garcia, Jay Manalo, and Junkya Santarin.

 

8. Circa
Directed by: Adolf Alix Jr.

On her 100th birthday, a once celebrated film producer, Doña Atang wishes a reunion with the actors and staff she had worked with in the past. Her grandson Michael takes on the task and reminisces the glorious years of cinema.

 

9. Lola Igna
Directed by: Eduardo Roy Jr.

The foul-mouthed and stubborn Lola Igna is just eager to die, but after getting the title "the oldest living grandmother in world," she meets her long lost great-great-grandson Tim whose aspirations on vlogging brings them together. Soon, Lola Igna finds a new reason to live.

 

10. Pagbalik
Directed by: Hubert Tibi and Maria S. Ranilloā€‹

After being forced to return home, a troubled OFW would have to come to terms with the family she had left behind.
