15th Cinemalaya Film Festival

Happening from August 2 to 13 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines and in selected cinemas in the Philippines, the 15th Cinemalaya Film Festival will be showcasing 10 full-length and 10 short films which will be competing for the big awards. To add to that, this year's film festival will also be screening the best films of other Filipino film festivals, as well as documentaries from various parts of Asia.

Indak
Premieres on: August 7

A film which stars Nadine Lustre and Sam Concepcion, Indak follows Jen, a simple island girl who loves dancing but doesn't show it to anyone. However, when a video of her dancing goes viral, Vin, the leader to a dance group, convinces her to join them to compete in a competition in South Korea. 

Bring the Soul: The Movie
Premieres on: August 7

Bring the Soul: The Movie will be featuring the members of BTS as they wrap up their European tour. The documentary-film will be showing Jin, Suga, RM, J-hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, on a rooftop in Paris, as they share their stories of performing for their ARMY in different cities from all across the globe. 

The Art of Racing in the Rain
Premieres on: August 7

The Art of Racing in the Rain is a film narrated by a philosophical dog named Enzo, who – because of his bond with his Formula One race car driver owner – understands that the things he's learned from the racetrack can also be used to journey through life. The film follows Denny, his wife Eve, their young daughter Zoe, and his dog best friend, Enzo.  It stars Kevin Costner, Milo Ventimiglia, Amanda Seyfried, Gary Cole, Kathy Baker, and more. 

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark
Premieres on: August 9

From Guillermo Del Toro comes Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, which is then based on a book trilogy by Alvin Schwartz. Four stories from the said book are confirmed to be part of the film: "The Big Toe", "The Red Spot", "Harold", and "The Dream". 

Dora and the Lost City of Gold
Premieres on: August 14

In Dora and the Lost City of Gold, 16-year-old Dora and her friends must embark on a quest through the Amazon jungle to save her parents to solve the mystery behind the Incan civilization, all while facing the scariest challenge that is high school! The film stars Isabela Moner, Eugenio Derbez, Michael Peña, Eva Longoria, Danny Trejo, and more. 

Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood
Premieres on: August 28

Directed by Quentin Tarantino, Once Upon A Time… in Hollywood stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt as a TV star and his stunt double who must make their way around an industry they no longer recognize. Joining the two actors are Margot Robbie, Emile Hirsch, Margaret Qualley, and more. 

After the Wedding
Premieres on: August 14

In After the Wedding, Michelle Williams plays Isabel, a woman who runs an orphanage in Calcutta. When she meets a potential benefactor, she also ends up attending the wedding of the benefactor's daughter, forcing her to confront her choices 20 years ago. 

Just A Stranger
Premieres on: August 21

Directed by Jason Paul Laxamana, Just A Stranger is a film which stars Anne Curtis and Marco Gumabao in a story of forbidden romance.
