We're finally getting the red pill as a new film from Warner Bros. Pictures will bring us back to The Matrix universe!
The sci-fi film franchise The Matrix supposedly closed its virtual curtains 16 years ago after its third installment, The Matrix Revolutions. But now, it has been confirmed that Lana Wachowski, one of the Wachowski siblings who wrote and directed the first three films, is already writing the fourth movie in the series, with Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss also confirmed to be reprising their roles as Neo and Trinity.
The announcement was made by Warner Bros. Pictures executive Toby Emmerich.
"We could not be more excited to be re-entering The Matrix with Lana," he said, as reported by Variety. "Lana is a true visionary—a singular and original creative filmmaker—and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in The Matrix universe."
Wachowski will be working with Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell for the screenplay and Grant Hill for the production. Sources say that the production is expected to begin in 2020.
