The Grimm's fairy tale gets a lot grimmer in the upcoming film Gretel and Hansel by visionary director Oz Perkins.
The first trailer for the film has been released, and it promises to make a terrifying horror flick out of the children's story. Starring Sophia Lillis from IT, here's a first look at the movie:
As the infamous tale goes, Hansel and Gretel from which the film is based tells the story of siblings who find a house made of sweets deep in the forest. Soon, the two would learn that the owner of the house is a wicked witch who intends to eat the two of them. While it was popularized as a children's story with the lesson: do not trust strangers or do not accept anything from strangers, and the like, the tale goes into a new horrifying level in the upcoming film. Just the atmosphere from this trailer will already convince you that this is far from being a fairy tale.
Orion Pictures' Gretel & Hansel is slated for a 2020 release, with its exact date yet to be announced. For more updates, visit the film's website, or follow its official social media pages on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
