Based on the best-selling mystery book series by Lawrence Block, this action-packed film follows the unorthodox, recovering alcoholic Scudder after he reluctantly agrees to help find the men who kidnapped and brutally murdered a heroin trafficker’s wife. During his investigation, Scudder learns that the killers are deviants who make a habit of committing twisted crimes, and he vows to hunt them down, even though it means blurring the line between right and wrong. In a race against time, he tries to stop them before they have a chance to kill again.
British actor Dan Stevens, seen last year in The Fifth Estate, stars as the drug kingpin, who is intent on avenging his wife’s murder.
A Walk Among the Tombstones also features Boyd Holbrook (Hatfield’s & McCoys), David Harbour (Rake) and Sebastian Roché (Criminal Minds). The movie was written and directed by Scott Frank, whose most recent writing credits include the screenplay for 2013′s The Wolverine.
This is not the first big-screen portrayal of Scudder character. Jeff Bridges originally took on the role for the 1980′s flick, 8 Million Ways to Die.
Distributed by Solar Pictures, A Walk Among the Tombstones will open in theaters nationwide Sept. 19.
