Liam Neeson Goes Full Absurdist in First Look at “The Naked Gun” Reboot — Comedy’s Wildest Cop is Back!

Absurdist Comedy Reloaded: “The Naked Gun” Unleashes First Look Featurette
Comedy is back — and it’s wearing a badge.

Get ready to laugh until your sides hurt because The Naked Gun is back with a riotous reboot, and Liam Neeson is stepping into the crime-fighting shoes of Lt. Frank Drebin Jr.! Paramount Pictures just dropped a hilarious first look featurette that previews the high-octane, slapstick mayhem headed to theaters this August.
Watch “The Naked Gun – First Look Featurette”:
Liam Neeson as You’ve Never Seen Him Before
Yes, you read that right — Liam Neeson (Taken, Schindler’s List) is swapping serious drama for over-the-top absurdity. As the son of the iconic Frank Drebin (originally played by Leslie Nielsen), Neeson brings his signature intensity to a role that demands perfectly timed pratfalls and deadpan delivery.
“People are kind of always ready to laugh,” says producer Seth MacFarlane (Ted, Family Guy) in a new featurette for this year’s The Naked Gun. “Growing up, I loved The Naked Gun [starring Leslie Nielsen]. This kind of broad, absurdist comedy would transcend all age groups.”

A Powerhouse Comedy Dream Team
The Naked Gun is directed by Akiva Schaffer, whose comedy credentials include Saturday Night Live and the cult favorite Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. Behind the scenes is comedic powerhouse Seth MacFarlane, known for pushing the envelope and nailing the punchline.
The reboot boasts a stacked cast:
- Pamela Anderson
- Paul Walter Hauser
- CCH Pounder
- Kevin Durand
- Cody Rhodes
- Liza Koshy
- Eddie Yu
- Danny Huston
New Posters? Yes, Please!
Alongside the featurette, fans are also treated to brand-new posters teasing the film’s zany energy. Expect outrageous poses, ridiculous props, and Neeson’s signature serious-face-in-a-silly-world expression.

The Verdict: Chaos, Crime-Fighting, and Comedy
Whether you’re a longtime fan of the original trilogy or a newcomer curious about why everyone’s quoting it, this reboot promises wall-to-wall laughs, car chases that defy logic, and plenty of quotable one-liners. Mark your calendars: The Naked Gun hits Philippine cinemas August 13.
