Jennifer Love Hewitt & Freddie Prinze Jr. Reunite in Terrifying New Chapter of “I Know What You Did Last Summer”

The Fisherman Returns: A Nostalgic Horror Revival
Something wicked this way slashes—I Know What You Did Last Summer is back with a vengeance, and this time, the original scream king and queen are returning to the blood-soaked scene.

Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. reunite on screen as Julie James and Ray Bronson, the Southport Massacre survivors, in a brand-new spine-chilling continuation of the 1997 cult classic.
Slated for release in Philippine cinemas on July 30, this latest installment promises more thrills, more secrets, and a new generation of unsuspecting victims.

A New Legacy of Terror
Directed and written by Do Revenge visionary Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, the film bridges old-school horror with a modern twist. For Robinson, it was essential to honor the legacy while exploring the emotional aftermath nearly three decades later.
“Working with Freddie and Jen was amazing,” says Robinson. “It was important to me to make sure that both of their stories felt like a continuation. We wanted to know, how would something like this affect them 27 years later? Who would they become, and how will that inform how they advise and help this younger group?”

Julie & Ray: Older, Wiser, Still Haunted
Jennifer Love Hewitt reprises her role as Julie James, now a psychology professor. When a string of killings echoes her traumatic past, the new generation seeks her help.
“Julie is all the things that she was but more grown up and wiser. She retains all the gumption and moxie she learned over those earlier stories, and now brings all that with her.”
Freddie Prinze Jr., whose character Ray Bronson now owns a bar, also steps back into the fray, drawn into the mystery once again alongside his former flame.
“Jenn wasn’t going to throw away the past,” he explains. “She treats it with the respect it deserves, while also demonstrating what makes her such an innovative writer and director. In Jenn’s 2022 film Do Revenge, you could see the sort of sexiness that she would bring to I Know What You Did Last Summer. As a horror fan, I think horror movies are, in a unique way, rather beautiful.”

A Killer Nostalgia Trip, Just in Time
The film’s plot centers on five friends who, after covering up a deadly accident, find themselves stalked by a mysterious killer with ties to the original 1997 murders. As the body count rises, they uncover links to Julie and Ray’s terrifying past.
With nods to fan-favorite moments, chilling suspense, and Robinson’s stylish storytelling, this isn’t just a sequel—it’s a full-circle horror event.
“She loves Julie and Ray, the story, and even the Fisherman. So, all that love has gone into this new version, and you can see it and you can feel it. I really respect Jenn and honor her for that,” Love Hewitt continues, “because horror movie fans are very specific, and they will feel her love of the franchise in this movie.”
