Steven Spielberg and David Koepp Unleash a New Dinosaur Era with “Jurassic World Rebirth” – In PH Cinemas July 2!

Steven Spielberg and David Koepp return to reshape dinosaur history in Jurassic World Rebirth, blending heist thrills and creature-feature terror. Catch it in PH cinemas July 2!

The master of cinematic spectacle, Steven Spielberg, and iconic screenwriter David Koepp are reuniting to reshape the future of dinosaurs in Jurassic World Rebirth, roaring exclusively into Philippine cinemas on July 2, 2025.

Three decades after Spielberg first captivated the world with Jurassic Park (1993), he returns as Executive Producer to steer the franchise into uncharted territory. Alongside him is Koepp, the original Jurassic Park screenwriter, crafting a story that’s both a thrilling reboot and a loving nod to the legacy.

“We wanted a film that felt like a fresh start while remaining in the world of the previous films,” says producer Frank Marshall, who has been the longtime producer of the franchise. “We continue to develop the idea that ‘life finds a way’ with a different kind of story that combines heist-movie adventure with creature-feature horror. We have new characters, a new setting, and new dinosaurs, some of which have gone very, very bad. At the same time, what I find exciting about Rebirth is that it finds a tone that harkens back to the original Jurassic Park. And that has a lot to do with the creative team we assembled for this one.”

A Bold New Era: Dinosaurs, Danger & Life’s Greatest Mystery

Set five years after the explosive events of Jurassic World Dominion, the earth’s ecology has shifted, leaving dinosaurs to survive only in isolated equatorial zones mimicking prehistoric climates.

But hidden within the DNA of the planet’s three most colossal creatures—rulers of land, sea, and sky—is the key to something extraordinary: a life-saving drug that could revolutionize medicine and extend human life.

The concept was sparked by Koepp’s real-life curiosity about dinosaurs’ biological resilience. “While doing research, I found that certain dinosaurs, larger ones in particular, did have extraordinarily long lifespans and the reason was they had remarkably low incidences of heart disease,” says Koepp. “That led to the idea that a drug could be synthesized from their DNA, because the greatest killer of humans is heart disease. The nice thing about that premise was that it was true to the core theme, ‘life finds a way.’ Life extension! Everyone can get onboard with that! To me, that seemed a valid reason—combined with the promise of a massive payday for the covert operations team—for smart, competent people to take the risk of going on an adventure into the most dangerous place in the world.”

Back to the Roots: Plausible Science, Real Humor & Dinosaur Mayhem

Spielberg and Koepp meticulously followed their unwritten rules for a true Jurassic film: stay grounded in science, maintain continuity, and never forget the humor.

“Humor is oxygen for movies like these,” Koepp says. “Not in a self-conscious way, but in an utterly believable, character-oriented way. To me there’s nothing funnier in films like these where you have characters trying to stay calm in the face of extreme peril by understating it.”
