Lights, Camera, Pride!

This June, Ayala Malls Cinemas is celebrating Pride Month with the glittering return of two beloved LGBTQ+ themed Filipino film classics. Audiences can now experience the newly restored versions of T-Bird at Ako and Mga Anak ni Facifica Falayfay—timeless works of cinema that challenged stereotypes and embraced self-expression, all while showcasing the brilliance of Filipino artistry.

These 80s favorites, starring none other than Nora Aunor, Vilma Santos, Dolphy, and Roderick Paulate, are now exclusively showing in select Ayala Malls Cinemas—reminding us all of the enduring power of storytelling on the silver screen.

T-Bird at Ako”: A Bold Legal Drama with an Unforgettable Duo

First released in 1982 and directed by Danny L. ZialcitaT-Bird at Ako follows lawyer Sylvia (the late National Artist Nora Aunor) as she defends Sabel (Vilma Santos), a dancer charged with killing a man in self-defense. What begins as a straightforward case evolves into an exploration of identity, power dynamics, and repressed emotions—fueling conversations that remain relevant even today.

Also featuring acclaimed actors Dindo Fernando, Tommy Abuel, Suzanne Gonzales, and Odette Khan, this film remains a landmark in queer Filipino cinema.

Mga Anak ni Facifica Falayfay”: Love, Identity, and Acceptance

The sequel to Dolphy’s 1969 hit Facifica Falayfay, this 1987 Romy Villaflor-directed dramedy picks up with Pacifico (Dolphy) as a grieving widower and father struggling to understand his son Rodrigo (Roderick Paulate), who is on a personal journey of self-discovery and acceptance. With a heartfelt story, laugh-out-loud moments, and emotional depth, Mga Anak ni Facifica Falayfay delivers a compassionate look at gender and family.

The ensemble cast also includes Zsa Zsa Padilla, Lotlot de Leon, Eric Quizon, and Rolly Quizon.

A Rewind Worth Watching

These two Pride Month headliners are part of Ayala Malls Cinemas’ “A-Rewind” initiative, a special program launched in partnership with ABS-CBN Film Archives and Restoration.
