“Hi, I’m Chucky! Wanna play?”
One of the most iconic dolls in pop culture is making a comeback in the upcoming SyFy series, Chucky. Based on the classic Child’s Play films, the series will follow the killer doll as it manipulates a new young owner in order to kill more victims.
Check out the show’s new trailer below:
Chucky first appeared in the 1988 film, Child’s Play, which received six sequels in the next 29 years. In 2019, a reboot film was released, which gave the killer doll a different look and a new origin story. Instead of being possessed by a serial killer, the Chucky of 2019 was a futuristic doll whose AI had gone rogue, causing it to become extremely violent.
Meanwhile, the new show will bring back the classic Chucky as well as some of the characters from the original films. Read the show’s synopsis below:
In the new CHUCKY television series, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos after a vintage ‘Good Guy’ doll turns up at a suburban yard sale. Soon, everyone must grapple with a series of horrifying murders that begin to expose the town’s deep hypocrisies and hidden secrets. Meanwhile, friends and foes from Chucky’s past creep back into his world and threaten to expose the truth behind his mysterious origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.
Don Mancini who wrote the original films serves as the creator and showrunner of the series. Chucky stars Brad Dourif and Zackary Arthur. It is set for release on SyFy and the USA Network on October 12.
