Bob Ong’s ‘Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan’ is Getting a Movie Adaptation

Chito S. Roño will direct and Joshua Garcia will star as the main character Galo in Bob Ong's 'Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan'.

The horror-mystery novel from the bestselling author Bob Ong, Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan, is getting a movie adaptation from Black Sheep, with none other than Direk Chito S. Roño helming the project, and star Joshua Garcia playing as the lead character Galo.

Black Sheep announced the upcoming film Wednesday, February 5, via their socials. Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan, published in 2010, is from the very popular yet mysterious writer Bob Ong, who is also known for writing books like ABNKKBSNPLAko?!Alamat ng GubatStainless Longganisa, and Bakit Baligtad Magbasa ng Libro Ang Mga Pilipino? to name a few.

Meanwhile, director Chito S. Roño is undeniably adept in his own craft, having been the director of films like Feng Shui and The Healing. As for Joshua Garcia, he has recently made his horror film debut at the Mikhail Red zombie flick Block Z.

Written as a personal journal, Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan tells the story of Galo who comes home to the province where he was raised after learning that his grandmother Susan had fallen ill. Back home, Galo is faced with hair-raising ordeals as unknown entities begin to surround him.

The movie project has just been announced, and we could only wait for further details to be released. But until then, we have plenty of time to read or reread the novel, ideally during the wee hours.
