Metro Manila Film Festival
December 25 to January 27

Christmases in the Philippines do not only mean good food, family reunions, and the much-awaited pamasko. It also marks the start of the Metro Manila Film Festival, an annual event showcasing films of different genres, screened in cinemas nationwide. The festival kicks off this December 25 and will be running until January 7, 2020.

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood
Premieres on: December 4

Tom Hanks is Mister Rogers in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, a film that's based on the true story of the friendship between Fred Rogers – a famous TV personality – and the journalist Tom Junod, who learns about empathy and kindness from America's most beloved neighbor. Joining Hanks are Matthew Rhys, Susan Kelechi Watson, and Chris Cooper. 

Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon
Premieres on: December 4

Shaun the Sheep is making a comeback to the big screen this December with Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon, where Shaun and his flock encounters an alien with extraordinary powers which crash lands near Mossy Bottom Farm. They must then help her find her way back home, to prevent her from being caught by the Ministry of Alien Detection.  Justin Fletcher, John Sparkes, Amalia Vitale, and more will be lending their voices for the film. 

Jumanji: The Next Level
Premieres on: December 4

The fourth installment to the Jumanji franchise, Jumanji: The Next Level brings the gang together again to return to Jumanji to rescue one of their own. Since the game has changed, the players must then go through deserts and mountains to escape the world's most dangerous game. Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, and Kevin Hart star in the film. 

Mananita
Premieres on: December 4

Mañanita follows an ex-military sniper who, after losing her job, spends the nights getting drunk in a bar. This is until she receives a phone call, giving her the mission that will change her life and make ends meet. The film, directed by Paul Soriano and written by Lav Diaz, stars Bela Padilla and Ronnie Lazaro. 

Black Christmas
Premieres on:
December 11

Black Christmas is an upcoming slasher film telling the story of Riley Stone and her Mu Kappa Epsilon sisters who are in the midst of preparing for their holiday parties when a black-masked stalker starts killing sorority women one-by-one. As they try to figure out who the killer is, they also begin to not trust the people around them. It stars Imogen Poots, Lily Donoghue, Aleyse Shannon, and Brittany O'Grady. 

Motherless Brooklyn
Premieres on: December 11

Motherless Brooklyn stars Edward Norton as Lionel Essrog, a private detective with Tourette Syndrome, who goes out to solve the murder of his mentor and friend, Frank Minna. He then unravels secrets that could hold the fate of New York in balance, with only a few close and his obsessive mind. The film stars Edward Norton, Bruce Willies, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Bobby Cannavale, Leslie Mann, Alec Baldwin, and more.

Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
Limited Screenings on: December 20 to 22

Set a year after the events of the last film, The Rise of Skywalker centers Kylo Ren and Rey who must face each other in one last battle, defining the future of the universe. The film is directed by J.J. Abrams, the film stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, and more. 

Clemency 
Premieres on: December 27

Clemency stars Alfre Woodard as Bernadine Williams, a prison warden who, after years of carrying out death executions, must confront the psychological and emotional demons that her job created. Joining Woodard are Wendell Pierce, Aldis Hodge, Richard Schiff, and Danielle Brooks.
